About the author (2012)

Richard Brightfield's maze books were an offshoot of his lifelong "doodling" mania that began as a preschooler and followed him through his years at Johns Hopkins (class of '49) and into adulthood. In addition to working many years as a graphic designer at Columbia University, he wrote and/or illustrated over a hundred books, many with his late wife, Glory. Rick's parallel life was spent as an amateur archaeologist, and he has traveled all over the world. Now 83 years young, he lives in Florida with his five cats and a dog, where he paints and writes every day when not bicycling, playing tennis or jumping in the surf.
