Basic studies in the field of high-temperature engineering: third information exchange meeting, Ibaraki-ken, Japan, 11-12 September 2003

Front Cover
In response to increasing interest in high-temperature, gas-cooled reactors (HTGRs) in many countries and the need for improved materials for nuclear applications in high-temperature environments, the NEA organized a Second Information Exchange Meeting on Basic Studies in the Field of High-Temperature Engineering. This was in follow-up to the first meeting held in 1999. These proceedings provide an overview of the activities being carried out in eight countries, including studies on the behaviour of irradiated graphite and improvement in material properties under high temperature irradation. There are also recommendations for further international work.
