About the author (1998)

H. B. Gilmour was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1939. Before becoming a full-time writer in 1995, she worked at E. P. Dutton, Bantam Books, and Scholastic. She was the author of more than 50 books including So Long, Daddy; The Muppets Take Manhattan; novelizations of the movies Saturday Night Fever and Pretty in Pink; and several titles based on the Clueless movie and television series. She died due to complications from lung cancer on June 21, 2009 at the age of 69.
