Chapters 2 until 7 distinguish four gradations of postnatal griefs: maternity blues, postnatal exhaustion, postnatal depression and puerperal psychosis. The following chapter describes women's loss of libido, which may appear after childbirth. The book also considers subjects such as the risk factors of postnatal depression, premenstrual syndrome, hormones and medical treatment.
