About the author (2010)

Virginia Florence Lasher was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and grew up being called Ginger by almost everyone. She has had a fascination with books since she learned to read. Her early years were also filled with participation in sports, particularly track and field. Nearing high school graduation she decided to turn her love of caring for children into a career in nursing. After her acceptance into the nursing program at St. Lukes Hospital in San Francisco her adventure began. The years following her graduation were spent traveling around the country with her husband, Douglas. While living on the East Coast, Virginia filled her free time by writing poems and short stories. Bolstered by the encouragement of Doug and her many friends she decided to delve into larger writing projects. The initial result was her adventure The Secret of Crooked Creek. Upon returning to California she settled a few blocks from the Pacific on the Central coast. Barely unpacked from her cross-country move Ginger joined a small writing group and became a member of the Night Writers in San Luis Obispo. Surrounded by so much literary creativity, and loving the fact that her middle name is Florence, she was inspired to write about her three year adventure as a student nurse. After completion of her manuscript, Ginger turned to her cousin, Nancy, for drawings to enhance her narrative. Currently Ginger is working on the next adventure for the kids of Crooked Creek.
