Gabinete de investigação: uma "caça aos judeus" sem precedentesThis book, the fourth of the series "Fontes para la história de Portugal e do Brazil" ("Sources for the History of Portugal and Brazil"), contains a list of names of Portuguese Conversos and Jews registered by the Portuguese Inquisition in the "Livro dos Culpados" ("The Book of the Accused"). These people had been denounced to the Inquisition and had undergone trials, and then emigrated to other countries, mainly the Netherlands and Brazil. The Inquisition was interested in "following their steps" in those countries. The list covers the 17th-18th centuries and is alphabetically arranged. In addition to the names of the accused, also contains the names of the accusers who provided evidence through their testimonies. In some entries the sentence is mentioned as well. |
