About the author (1992)

Doug Grad is a publisher and editor who started out as an editorial assistant and part time muffin taster at the Ladies Home Journal in 1986. He went on to Simon and Schuster as a temp for Michael Karda and was promoted to Associate Editor in 1990 of Pocket Books. He edited the N.Y. Times notable book Red Ink by Greg Dinalla and the Chicago Tribune bestseller Ditka: Monster of the Midway. In 1995 he moved to Ballantine books as an editor where he published his first N.Y. Times bestseller Gods and Generals. He then went to Penguin Publishing in 1998 and became Senior Editor. In 2005 he published N.Y. Times bestseller The Boy of Steel at Regan Books. He also published a play at home quiz book for the show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? He is also known for publishing the bestseller Ya Gotta Believe by the late relief pitcher Tug McGraw.
