First full-length play by up-and-coming Scottish writer - premiered at Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh In a 'show house' on a green-field site outside Glasgow live Jo and her husband Bill, who's the head of a storage company. They are throwing a dinner party for Katie and her new man Bob, to which their old friends Viv and Chris are invited. But Bob, a removal van driver, seems hardly to know Katie, and, more troublingly, Katie herself is nowhere to be found... As the evening wears on Jo becomes increasingly distraught as memories of her dead son, her husband's increasingly open hostility and Katie's continued non-appearance take their toll... No one it seems can really start life anew - even on a green field. The Traverse Theatre 'discovered' Riccardo Galgani when he wrote a one-act play, Acts, which became part of the triple bill, Family (also published by NHB and containing plays by Iain Crichton Smith and Linda McLean). Green Field is Galgani's first full-length play.
