Nellie Bly (1864ï¿1⁄21922) was a reporter, activist, and businesswoman who is celebrated as one of Americaï¿1⁄2s most famous and influential journalists. She is best known for the undercover assignment that resulted in the book Ten Days in a Mad-House and her race to circle the globe faster than the hero of Jules Verneï¿1⁄2s popular novel Around the World in Eighty Days.
