About the author (2010)

Writing is hard work. In writers workshop the students tried many different kinds of writing. They wrote essays, narratives, editorials, feature articles, short stories, memoirs and poetry. They attempted to try writing from new perspectives, with different not so obvious narrators, creative and detailed settings, science fiction and historical fiction plot lines, important themes and work that was important to us. As they tried to improve as writers they found that the work that seemed to drive them was the work that came from their hearts. Things that happened in and around them was what they most wanted to write about. This publication represents those things that are important in their teenage lives. Each student chose only one piece to contribute to the book. We hope you enjoy the snapshot of eigtht grade life from all of us at Pierce Middle School in Waterford, MI.
