Rarefied Gas Dynamics: Space-related StudiesEric Phillip Muntz, D. P. Weaver, David H. Campbell The 16th International Symposium on Rarefied Gas Dynamics (KGD16) was held July 10-16, 1988 at the Pasadena Convention Center, Pasadena, CA. As anticipated, the resurging interest in hypersonic flight, along with escalating space operations, has resulted in a marked increase in attention being given to phenomena associated with rarefied gas dynamics. Topics covered include direct simulation Monte Carlo technique, discrete kinetic theory techniques, inelastic collisions and chemistry in the DSMC, Boltzmann Monte Carlo technique, and energetic collisions of gases with surfaces in low Earth orbit. |
