That Murray GirlMadeline arrived in St. Cloud, Minnesota, on the Orphan Train at the age of three and was put in the care of an aging farm couple. She grew up on a Stearns County farm, married, and lived in St. Cloud. Widowed in 1937 with five young children, she faced the difficult prospect of supporting her family. This she managed to do by stepping into the business community as a successful career woman at a time when few women worked. |
