About the author (2010)

The author, Michael Wise was born into a family in the ferment of left wing politics and activism, with a father who went to prison for unseating a mounted policeman and a mother who was a founder Communist but designed and fitted hats for Royalty. Michael briefly flirted with left wing politics on the national scene before buiiding a career in Nuclear research. Later came a troubled marriage to a wife with Huntingtons Chorea, a terrible disease that beleaguered his family. Then came work with children with special needs and young unemployed. This led to community service and the creation of a unique children's hospice where he is still Life President. This story is alternatively heartrending and hilarious. In 2007 he received the award of MBE from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth for 30 years community service and the creation of the children's hospice. He has three daughters, two of whom suffer from Huntingtons and seven grandchildren. Having at one time worked as a journalist, he has taught creative writing for many years and currently facilitates a Philosophy and a poetry group, He is just completing his second novel, an environment thriller, soon to be published.
