There are two themes to this book. The main one is all about cognition - the processes of understanding. It tries to outline how we might best help several generations of young people to use a greater part of the innate capacity of their minds. The other theme, intertwined with the first, deals with communication - the thing we do during our search for understanding. For leaders, teachers and parents, recognizing what are the principal factors of cognition is, I believe, the key to good, effective communication. And effective communication is the most efficient way we can affect our listeners' attitudes, decisions and behavior.
