About the author (1994)

Dr. Michael Colgan, a renowned author and lecturer, is the founder and president of The Colgan Institute. The institute, which is known internationally for its research in sports, nutrition, and aging, offers a wide range of publications and nutritional supplements. Founded in 1972 in Auckland, New Zealand, the Colgan Institute was moved to San Diego, California in 1982. Colgan was a senior member of the Science Faculty of the University of Auckland from 1971 to 1982 where he taught human sciences and conducted research on human aging and physical performance at the university's medical school. After moving to the United States in 1980, Colgan was a visiting scholar at Rockefeller University in New York. Author of the best-selling books Optimum Sports Nutrition, The New Nutrition, and Prevent Cancer Now, Colgan has also contributed articles to his institute's nutritional newsletter Colgan Chronicles. By lecturing at medical and corporate organizational meetings and speaking at various conventions, Colgan has been able to teach thousands of athletes around the world how to improve their performance and possibly become champions.
