Tragedy and Grace: A Compilation of Photography and PoetryA private soldier encounters reality when he is assigned to Korea in 1947 after the Second World War. He is brought to physical and mental exhaustion while trying to cope with the demanding requirements of the time. He finds love with a Japanese girl and is betrayed by her when he finds out that she is contraband property. When the war comes, he loses a close Korean friend to a land mine. He is surrounded and is almost captured. He experiences the horrible sights of the battlefields. He has to fight his way out of encirclement at the Chosen Reservoir and down the snow covered mountains of North Korea. On the way down the mountain, his truck is shot out from under him, and he is reported missing in action. Having served four years in the Far East, he was on the first ship that came back to the states. |
