I read the Playboy Interview then in about 1974 bought and read the paperback. I remembered it so well I was able to quote from it in 2013.
I confess that I tend to believe Speer more than I
believe his detractors. He was there after all and they were all not.
An old man may be allowed to spin his own story to make himself look better, but Speer did a very little bit of that. Indeed he took a great deal of responsibility many times more than bragging about his accomplishments.
As the last surviving member of the inner circle, it is small wonder that any number of angry words will be directed at him and his memoirs. OTOH, had he not survived there would be no such target.
