In a simple to read and understand format, Gail Gibbons explains the creation and ever changing beauty of caves. This book is good for introducing the topic of caves to young readers and sparking thier interst in the subject. Read full review

About the author (1993)

Gail Gibbons was born in 1944 in Oak Park, Illinois. She attended the University of Illinois, majoring in graphic design. Upon her graduation from college, Gibbons moved to New York City. Gibbons got a job doing artwork for television shows in New York City. She was eventually offered a job creating art for a children's show and realized how much she loved working in that genre. She put forth an idea for a children's book which was immediately bought by a publisher. That book was called "Willie and His Wheel Wagon" and opened the door for Gibbons to become a full fledged children's author and illustrator. Gibbons has written and illustrated more than 100 non-fiction books for children.

Dave Gibbons is is unquestionably best known for his work on the award-winning classic Watchmen, however he is also a celebrated writer, penning The Originals for Vertigo. one of 2000 AD 's most popular artists, having co-created Harlem Heroes and Rogue Trooper. He has also pencilled A.B.C. Warriors, Dan Dare, Judge Dredd, Mega-City One, Ro-Busters, Tharg the Mighty, Tharg's Future Shocks. Will Simpson's work beyond 2000 AD includes Aliens, Animal Man, Batman, Hellblazer, and his cocreated Vamps series at DC/Vertigo. For 200 AD he is the co-creator of Universal Soldier, and has also illustrated Judge Dredd, Future Shocks, Psi-Judge Anderson, Tyranny Rex and Witchworld.
