About the author (2009)

Harrisburg native Tonee Maxx was born in Nebraska. It was his love of the arts that lured him to Philadelphia; where he attended the Art Institute.  He used his photographic and other artistic abilities to capture city life and nature.  It allowed him to survive professionally, even amidst the constant turmoil that a gay man goes through in Philadelphia.  A victim of a broken home and childhood abuse, his personal life was filled with tragedy, drugs and sex. It was only when he started traveling  abroad to Hawaii, Canada and Europe; far away from the destructive influences on his life, that Tonee found his real spirit and personal strength.

When Tonee discovered writing, he found a new way of dealing with the trials and tribulations of his past and present life. He found writing to be very cathartic. The more he wrote, the more he came to terms with what was going on in and around him.  His writing also gained him a new sense of self respect. He realized that he should never give up, even though he came close so many times.

Although Tonee still struggles with certain issues of his life, he hopes that his deeply honest and personal style of writing will allow his readers to discover a hidden and often dark world through his eyes.
