Having made a hogshead of mead 50 years ago and not liking the result very much - I preferred wine without troubling the bees.....
I read some of the book thinking I might give it another go by
trying different tasting honeys.
I don't think the lack of exact measurements should worry you as long as you use common sense - clearly if you boil sometging for an hour you'll end up with a good deal less - so add more of one or the other - or both.
