The History of Japan: Together with a Description of the Kingdom of Siam 1690-1692This is a facsimile edition of Kaempfer's classic work on Japanese history. Written in the 17th century, it was for a long time required reading for all students of Japanese studies. This English language edition, translated by J. G. Scheuchzer under royal patronage, was first published in 1906. It includes an account of Kaempfer's preliminary voyage from Batavia to Siam, and thence to Japan, together with a short description of the Kingdom of Siam. |
