Page 138 - The print to he toned should be developed, fixed and washed in the usual way, but care should be taken that the final washing is thorough. On placing the print in the toning solution a gradual change in color takes place, first to black, then warm brown, purple, and finally deep red. During these changes a slight diminution in density takes place, but unless the final red tones are desired it does not appear necessary to make the original prints of special density.
