Regardless of your politics, you should read this book. There is no way around the fact that gun violence costs the taxpayers of this country a lot of money and it is interesting to finally see a data driven, analytic approach to the issue instead of the usual blaring rhetoric.

Many people are violent and a gun is nothing but one of many tools.

Unfortunately, this text fails to recognize the benefits of private gun ownership properly. Private ownership has costs as well as benefits, and until gun opponents recognize both correctly they will continue to marvel at the popularity of guns in America. In explaining how "gun violence reduces the quality of life for everyone in America" the authors miss the mark on how gun ownership reduces the probability of crime and enhances the standard of living of everyone. Some simple questions miss getting answered here, mainly because of the authors' agenda.
