This is a great book to have when you're ordering from Netflix, at least for the Classics. It's a bit dated now, but Kael's reviews are priceless, and our tastes converge. These are reprints of Kael's reviews from the New Yorker where she wrote for many, many years. This is almost a reference book.

I don't always agree, but she was very writer and had certainly given a lot of thought to film. I think sometimes she is a bit anti-art film but maybe that is not such a bad thing--keeps us all in check. A good story is, after all, a good story.
