This is the definitive guide for things to see and to do in western Oregon. This volume is packed with historical details, folklore, anecdotes, geology, fishing, flora, fauna, biography, hiking trails, and a good deal more. These elements are combined with photos of thousands of off-the-beaten-path finds.

Two of my "great" uncles played as boys do at the mining operation at Whiskey Run. They spent a lot of time with the miners and eventually just seemed to blend into all the activity. Soon the playful activity turned into mischief. They picked up a bucket of platinum and ran off with it believing it was their treasure. They buried it under a tree and never let anyone know about this as they knew they'd get in trouble. My grandma showed me where they thought it was generally speaking. They would have done this back in the early 1900's.

Page 87 - And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England's mountains green, And was the holy Lamb of God On England's pleasant pastures seen? And did the Countenance Divine Shine forth upon our clouded hills, And was Jerusalem builded here Among these dark Satanic Mills?
