It covers the story of champions including Edwin Flack, Fanny Durack, Betty Cuthbert, Herb Elliot, Shane Gould, Duncan Armstrong and Debbie Flintoff-King. Recent winners such as Kieran Perkins, Kathy Watt and the 'Oarsome Foursome' are also discussed. It also looks at the administrators, the International Olympic Committee, the coaches and the evolving role of sports medicine. A chronology of events, lists of Australian Olympic statistics, a bibliography and an index are included. The author is a journalist, editor, and author of eight previous books including 'An Eyewitness History of Australia' which won both the National Book Council Banjo Award and the Barbara Ramsden Award.
