About the author (1984)

Isabel Huggan was born on September 21, 1943, in Ontario, Canada. She attended the University of Western Ontario and briefly worked for Macmillan Publishing after graduation. She later taught high school English and worked as a reporter and photographer. She wrote several collections of short stories including The Elizabeth Stories and You Never Know. Her memoir Belonging: Home Away from Home won the Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction in 2004.
