I am glad that Brooke Shields was open about her struggle with PPD, but this book irritated me. It's not the story of a "real" person's struggle with PPD. Shields had resources available to her that the average person would not, or could not have. Read full review

About the author (1994)

Kleiman is a licensed clinical social worker and founder and director of the Postpartum Stress Center near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she treats women with postpartum depression and their families. She graduated in 1980 from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Master's Degree in Social Work.

Valerie Davis Raskin, M.D., is clinical associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Chicago. She lives with her family in the Chicago area.
