This is a real oddity - a dark, disturbing, sometimes shocking gothic tale that sometimes reads like a old fashioned story for young ladies - something like "Ghastly Doings at St Hildas". I enjoyed it but wish that the style was as good as the plot - which is very good indeed. Read full review
