About the author (1997)

Leslie Land, author of "Gardeners' Q. & A.," began writing for the Times's garden department in 1997. A former senior editor at Yankee Magazine, her articles also appear in The New York Times, Food & Wine, HG, Metropolitan Home,and Country Journal. She is the co-author of The 3,000 Mile Garden.

Roger Phillips is the author or co-author of 30 gardening books with total sales of more than three million copies worldwide. He is also the creator of two major BBC television series on gardening.

Martyn Rix is a botanist, plant collector and gardener, and the author of 17 books. He has collaborated with Roger Phillips since 1977.
