About the author (2007)

Stephen R. Gray flew the A-4 Skyhawk in Vietnam and later served as a flight instructor at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Beeville, Texas. In 1972, he left the Navy and began flying commercially for Delta Airlines. Gray flew some thirty different types of aircraft, logging more than 24,000 flying hours before retiring in 2002. He lives in Hemphill, Texas.
