All the Cathedrals of France
-- Completely new and authoritative descriptions of all the 184 "constant or demoted or promoted or ruined or excavated or schismatic or ephemeral" cathedrals of France, some described here for the first time in English -- Alphabetical listing of the regions of France and their cathedrals -- Map of the regionsThis volume represents the product of a dedicated twelve-year study of the French Cathedrals. Upon his death in 1994 Basil Cottle left his nearly-completed manuscript version of all the Cathedrals of France to Bristol University Library. Nicholas Lee, a friend and colleague of Cottle's and previously responsible for the Special Collections in the Library, has since visited a dozen or more of the cathedrals whose interiors were under restoration, or for other reasons inaccessible at the time of Basil Cottle's original visit, and has completed, corrected and edited the text so as to bring it up to date for publication.
