Frank Waters wrote this memoir of his experience while doing research for his scholarly work "The Book of the Hopi". "Pumpkin Seed Point" can be seen as a comprehensive footnote to that work, but more importantly, it explores the subtleties and shadows of then present-day Hopi culture. It is an intriguing and enjoyable journey. Many feel that "The Book of the Hopi" is Mr. Water's most important work. While this may be true, I found "Pumpkin Seed Point" to be a much more personal, and in some ways, more authentic work. If you are interested in the Hopi, then this book will open new windows of understanding for you.

It was good to read the background to what was taking place when Frank was putting together the Book of the Hopi. Interesting read. Read full review
