THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNET'S NEST

Editorial Review - Kirkus - Jane Doe

Lisbeth Salander is in big trouble. Again. In the third installment of the late journalist Larsson's unpretty exposé of all that is rotten in Sweden (The Girl Who Played with Fire, 2009, etc.), Lisbeth meets her father, who, we learned a couple of books back, is not just her sire but also her mortal enemy. Review: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest

Editorial Review - Bookreporter.com - Joe Hartlaub

For the moment, THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNET'S NEST is the final volume in what has become known as The Millennium Trilogy. A fine ending to an entertaining trilogy. The story trudged along, though, for the first two thirds then culminated in an action packed ending third with the Section setup and Salander trial. It didn't help that I had to take a couple weeks off from reading at lunch to deal with work issues; other wise the story would have had more compact attention for cohesiveness. It was good to get a positive closure for Mikael with his personal issues as well as the Salander-Mikael relationship. Also glad the Berger-SMP job didn't work out; the whole deal with the stalker and boss scandal added some interesting sub-plot motives and helped setup the Mikael-Figuerola situation. As with the previous two books a few quick trips to Wikipedia and Google Maps were necessary to familiarize with names of people and places but this is hardly a distraction. Now that the books are read it's time to watch the extended original movies on Netflix followed up by the recent Daniel Craig flick.

Tho I read the two previous books and knew the characters, I still had difficulty following this story line. The last half was more readable and compelling. June 5, 2010 (on Kindle)
