Chronicles of the Davis Family of Virginia and KentuckyM.E. Marella, 1992 - 510 pages Josephus Newton Davis was born in 1818 in Wythe County, Virginia, the son of Solomon and Lavisa T. Roberts Davis. He married Virginia Whittiker (1821-1890), daughter of John and Margaret Whittiker, in 1840 at Mt. Arie, Surry County, North Carolina. They had eleven children, 1841-1865, born in Virginia and Kentucky. He died in 1891 in Wayne County, Kentucky. Descendants listed, chiefly descendants of his second son, Constantine Campbell Davis (1842- 1909) and Constantine's daughter, Idella Smith Davis Page Konec Ware Payne Fritz (1889-1960), lived in Kentucky, Illinois, and elsewhere. |
