Author Greg Mortenson tells the story of his the day he wandered into a Pakistani village after a failed mountain climbing attempt. The villagers nurse him back to health, and he is inspired to build them a school in return. This story of caring for strangers, overcoming obstacles, and giving back to the community is told from the perspective of the children in the village and is embellished with unique illustrations made from colorful fabric, cut-paper, and computer-chip collages.

Great to story showing how 1 person can make a difference. Many children do not think if they do something alone it will make a difference. Even if it's just cleaning up the garbage in the school yard. Could be tied into Earth Day.
