About the author (2004)

Independent broadcast technology consultant. He is a freelance instructor who conducts training courses for leading broadcast companies around the world. He regularly gives presentations and papers to professional bodies including the IEE, AES and ITU. He has been an instructor for EMC Computer Systems running courses on video over IP, media asset management, MPEG and DVB transmission. Before that he set up and ran the global training facility for Tandberg covering digital terrestrial and broadcast systems for data, audio and voice covering Unix, NT, TCP/IP Oracle, Informix, ATM, DVB, ATSC and MPEG. He also designed, built and ran the studio facilities at Radio West and Signal Radio and created the first public data broadcast transmission of computer software over-air. He was for many years a Communications Engineer for the BBC.
