About the author (2002)

Bernard Kops was born in the East End of London of Dutch-Jewish working-class parents in 1926. He has written several novels and four volumes of poetry. His first play, "The Hamlet of Stepney Green", brought him recognition and was performed all over the world. He has written twenty stage plays, including "Simon at Midnight", "Ezra", "Sophie! The Last of the Red Hot Mommas", "Playing Sinatra, ""Dreams of" "Anne" "Frank", "Golem, "and "Cafe Zeitgeist". "Dreams of Anne Frank" won the Time Out Award for Best Fringe Play 1992-3 and has been performed all over the world. He has also written three plays for the BBC: "Sailing with Homer", "The Jericho Players, " and "Protocols of Fire". "Sailing with Fire" won the Writer's Guild award in 1995.
