Alexander the Great was one of the most brilliant generals the world has ever known. His campaigns included the conquest of the ancient Persian Empire, which lifted his Macedonian kingdom from the level of city-state and onto the world stage. This book provides a fascinating insight into his military achievements.

Review: The Wars of Alexander the Great: 336-323 BC (Essential Histories #26)

User Review  - Jared Macdonald - Goodreads

While not as rigorous as some historians, Waldemar Heckel's account of the military campaign of Alexander the Great is very accessible and interesting read. I may pick up a more comprehensive book in the future, but I definitely don't regret reading this book. Read full review

This is part of the excellent introduction but also colorfully illustrated works on military history by Osprey. Read full review
