The first novel of a projected trilogy concluding with the already published TCaptivity Captive' (1988). Tells the story of a convict transported to Australia and his escape to the mysterious and incomprehensible bush. The author, a novelist and poet, won the Miles Franklin Award in 1982 for TJust Relations', and is currently Chair of the Australia Council.

The dialog is not as intriguing as The Fall by Camus but it still is a very interesting read. And a nice excursion into the early days of Australia which I liked a lot. Read full review
