I am an organizational change practitioner. I am also finishing up my PhD coursework in Industrial-Organizational psychology. I have read far too many textbooks in the past few years that present many theories, but are not able to differentiate between what works well and what does not.
Daft is one of the very few in academia that bridges the theories with the real practices. One of the things that shines brightest in this book is the repeated use of the concept of participation as a psychological construct. Managers who study this book will learn that a participation plan is even more important than a communication plan. Most other textbooks on leadership/management and HR lack this wisdom.
