About the author (2012)

Mike Hubbard is a businessman and state legislator from Auburn, Alabama. He worked for the Auburn University Athletic Department's media relations office before leaving in 1990 to head Auburn's radio and television sports network. In 1994, he formed his own company, Auburn Network Inc., a multimedia and marketing company. In 1998, in his first run for office, Hubbard was elected to a seat in the Alabama House of Representatives, where he served as House minority leader from 2005 to 2010. In addition, he served two terms as chairman of the Alabama Republican Party. Following the historic 2010 election, he was elected speaker of the House, becoming the first Republican speaker since Reconstruction.
