What a terrific collection of stories. The level of writing is superb and makes me long for the days where our writing level needn't cow-tow to the 6th grade reading level currently prescribed to. Makes me hungry the whole time I'm reading it and longing for adventures. Read full review

Ruth Reichl, former restaurant critic of New West magazine, California magazine, the Los Angeles Times, and The New York Times, is now editor in chief of Gourmet magazine. She is also the author of the bestselling memoirs Tender at the Bone and Comfort Me with Apples, and the editor of the Modern Library Food series. Reichl lives in Manhattan with her husband, her son, and two cats.
