Recently I came across the second edition of Text book of Microbiology and Immunology by Dr S C Parija. This book is very different from the rest of books available in market as it is factually updated and gives a deep insight into the subject. The tables and key points are very helpful in understanding the subject and case studies in end of chapters will help the student in self evaluation. The students preparing for Indian Post graduate medical entrance and PLAB UK will also find it very useful.

The Text Book on Microbiology and Immunology by Subash Chandra Parija is proving to a wealth of knowledge on curriculum in Medical Microbiology and Infectious diseases which carry high mortality and morbidity, helpful to both Microbiologists and Clinicians. Today Indian book market is flooded with several text books on Medical Microbiology, many proving to be replicas of others and lacking the authenticity of authorís contribution. The book in review by Dr Parija (JIPMER) has attained the true goal in explaining the details of the subject in precision. The great strength of the book lies with impact of Introduction on every topic to a beginner and learned alike, to develop interest in what is proceeding to read. Every attempt has been made to present the Case studies making sincere efforts with Clinical approaches. His humble submission that it is a Text Book for undergraduates in reality, it equally serves the post graduate students and teachers alike. I find it a most valuable book for teachers who are sincere to their job. However more colourful pictures will make it to the Greater International Standards -Dr.T.V.Rao MD Professor Travancore Medical College, Kollam, Kerala. India
