Review: Neuromancer

Editorial Review - Bookreporter.com

Twenty years ago, it was as if someone turned on a light. The future blazed into existence with each deliberate word that William Gibson laid down. The winner of Hugo, Nebula, and Philip K. Brilliance. Beauty. Beyond anything I had expected from fiction to the point that I read it, and I have yet to read anything that expanded my mind as much as Neuromancer had. William Gibson redefined sci-fi with forever and, in doing so, predicted the world to come in so many ways it's almost terrifying. Perfect dark-future stuff, it fires the imagination, raising questions about who we are, body, mind, or personality, who controls us, what motivates us and why. Read with Count 0 and Mona Lisa Overdrive it makes for the sort of series of books that leaves you feeling crushed that they've ended.
Read it if, somehow, you haven't managed to yet.
Are you reading it yet?

A classic sci-fi cyberpunk story, it's hard to believe that it's been in print for nearly 30 years. It's somewhat dated now, but incredibly visionary considering it was written before the Internet.

One of the best books ever written, in any genre. Head-exploding. Not much of a review but that's all there is to it. You might read "Burning Chrome" first to see if you like Gibson's style. If you like that, you will love this.

A truly interesting classic type of sci-fi genre read. Very complicated and strange, entertaining all the way through.

Kind of a slog at a few points and took me a lot of rereading to get everything clear in my head (despite the fact that this is the second time I've read the book!), but it was worth the trouble! Read full review
