Brilliance. Beauty. Beyond anything I had expected from fiction to the point that I read it, and I have yet to read anything that expanded my mind as much as Neuromancer had. William Gibson redefined sci-fi with forever and, in doing so, predicted the world to come in so many ways it's almost terrifying. Perfect dark-future stuff, it fires the imagination, raising questions about who we are, body, mind, or personality, who controls us, what motivates us and why. Read with Count 0 and Mona Lisa Overdrive it makes for the sort of series of books that leaves you feeling crushed that they've ended.
Read it if, somehow, you haven't managed to yet.

One of the best books ever written, in any genre. Head-exploding. Not much of a review but that's all there is to it. You might read "Burning Chrome" first to see if you like Gibson's style. If you like that, you will love this.

Of all of the science fiction I have read, this is my favorite novel of the genre so far. It is equal parts gritty, and disturbing. Gibson has a wonderful hold on details which bring this universe vividly to life. I can't wait to read more of Gibson's work. Read full review

Review: Neuromancer (Sprawl #1)

A reread of the 30 year old SF classic that is as fresh and refreshing a read as then of the convergent threat / opportunity that AI poses / will pose as they take over from humans, as Kurzweil has raised in his book. Chilling as ever. Read full review

Wow, I wish I could have read this a long time ago. Now that everything in it has basically come to pass, I think it loses some of its impact. Still, this is a seminal SF work and has influenced so much, not to mention it's well written and thoroughly enjoyable. Read full review
