About the author (2000)

Irene Slatter teaches Russian at the University of Durham, England, and is the author of the sister volume, Very Simple Russian. She has been a frequent visitor to Russia over the last 30 years with a wide circle of both professional and personal acquaintances, and has a special interest in the role of women in Russian society.
