About the author (1994)

The late Thelma Sullivan was one of the foremost Nahuatl scholars of the twentieth century and the author of a compendium of Nahuatl grammar. Anthropologist Timothy J. Knab is the author of A War of Witches: A Journey into the Underworld of the Contemporary Aztecs.

Timothy J. Knab previously described his apprenticeship as a dreamer in A War of Witches: A Journey into the Underworld of the Contemporary Aztecs, a book written after the present one was begun. His other books include the edited volume A Scattering of Jades: Stories, Poems, and Prayers of the Aztecs (available from the UA Press) and Mad Jesus: The Final Testament of a Huichol Messiah from Northwest Mexico. He is Professor of Anthropology at the Universidad de las Americas Puebla in Cholula, Mexico.
