About the author (1999)

Vera Brittain (18931970) served as a nurse in the British armed forces in World War I and afterward devoted herself to the causes of peace and feminism. She wrote twenty-nine books, of which "Testament of Youth" is the best-known.
Mark Bostridge is a biographer and literary critic who lives in London.

Bishop is a Professor of English at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario.

Mark Bostridge was born in 1961 and was educated at Oxford University. His biography of Vera Brittain, co-authored with Paul Berry, was selected as a book of the year by "The Independent," He lives in England.
