As a student of theology with a strong scientific background I found this book indispensable to understand the underlying basic principles of philosophy which are here described so precisely and comprehensibly. It made me grasp how Plato had intuited the foundational notions of Christianity especially in the Republic and Timaeus; how Aristotle laid the basis for logical and scientific thinking; how Scholasticism crystallized these ideas and fused them with Christianity in Aquinas; how the Scientific Revolution besides opening widespread the gates leading to empirical truths unfortunately indirectly undermined our most sacred truths regarding human beings in his relations to God. A truly insightful book which I strongly recommend.
